Schooling

Finally Nasya started her school on 1st November, and that makes me my schedule went haywire so as she.

See, her small eyes? Too sleepy from late sleep last nite but so excited to go to school. Since she started her school at the end of semester, teacher said no need to buy her uniform since they will change to new uniform by next year. So, yes, every day is "wearing mommy made clothes" day.

She stays until 6, and with nap at school, so I put her on long sleeve clothes to avoid her from cold and cough since the school is a fully air-conditioned school. Morning is skirts or dresses and afternoon is pants and shirt.

I dont know why I didnt take her picture on the first day, but I will start from next week then. :D

Happy holidays and Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all who celebrating.

Putrajaya

You know Putrajaya has beautiful buildings? Im imagining of taking lots of photos of Nasya wearing hats there. InsyaAllah one fine day.Yesterday we were there to meet Mye.

To make sure Nasya was not bored, I asked her to get out of the car and I snapped few photos. Will definitely come back to have a proper photo shoot there.

Crafty Market 10 and Rorry Hat

Those who already followed me on Instagram and Twitter have already seen all these photos. Im now in love with this Rorry hat. Now Im thinking of some new styles to style this hat. But soon, I need to do some trial and error first and it involves of lots of waste ;p. We crafters love to waste (NOT!)

So that hat Nasya's wearing was meant for sale when she decided that she wanted that one. But it is actually my fav too!

That nite, I made another one and mix and match it with 2 different tone of browns. The inner is a brown toolbox fabric. Its not listed in the FB album as I forgot who is the designer. Will stock up more soon.

Still available tho. Size 1T.

This is from my husband's phone after I edited a bit. She was so into the hat heheh. Happy me!

I made her wear the pants made from the crossword puzzle fabric bought from Tini. Was meant to make a bag when I realized she got too many bags already. She loves the pants and when Im a bit free, I will snap total of that pants she has :p

About Crafty, I will only make an appearance during Crafty or any bazaar I joined. Why, coz my time other than that will be at home. If Im going for our weekly outing, I usually didnt bring the hats. So to those who really wants to touch and feel and try, please make your time during the bazaar. Doesnt mean you have to buy, you can custom when your size is not available there, but you will know how it looks like on your kids, which hats you like and etc. And usually you will get a discount when you buy at the bazaar (when you buy more like brooches/pins etc)

So, next bazaar will be on 17th December, Im coming out with new items. Please head over, to JayaOne again ok!!

Happy Monday to all of you!

This week

This week can be said a bit hectic, but then, I managed to squeeze sometime to sew something for my daughter. She hardly has new dress (for home). Since Im officially an Instagram addict, I want to snap pictures as much as possible because editing is fun! I managed to buy Snapseed apps when it went free last week. Yayyy, the normal price is $4.99.

Anyways, I made a dress using a batik sarong, bought in Bandung 3 years back. Love the colors, not a usual floral batik prints and suitable for anything you want to sew. Batik sarong, is a good deal since its big, almost 3 yards I think and I could make 2 dresses out of it, and still got remaining, which, I can make few bags I think.

Peasant dress on the left, and another on the right. See the different expression? :p

Last nite, I made one order for Nurul. Nurul was a walk in customer in last Crafty Market, and one of the order is this hat, for a friend's son. Happy birthday little boy!

Yellow cars fabric & Turqouise Train fabric. Super ♥

This is the 3rd dress I made for Nasya this week. The fabric was bought last 2 years for Nasya's baju kurung and suddenly it turns out to be a dress. :D

Using the same pattern for Nasya's 2nd birthday dress.

And last but not least, this is a DIY skirt. I posted this in the FB yesterday. Using a natural cotton, I sew, dye, draw and let Nasya color it. Em, she did add few drawings of her and a cousin by the slide. I might say that this is a one of a kind skirt, because, another person can hardly make the same skirt as this. You can try this too at home.

Coloring and drawing done using a fabric pen & crayon. Fabric pen can be bought at Art Friend, The Gardens. The fabric crayon can be found in Popular. There are also Fabric Markers by Crayola I saw at Toys R Us.

So, how is your week so far? Do follow me on Instagram! My nickname as usual, okinokiyo!

Hunting for kindy

Nasya is being home-schooled for last 2 years since I resigned from my office job. It was fun but it can be tiring and mad if something went wrong, like I am piled with work and she decides to throw tantrum at the same day.

Any other than that is pure bliss. I don't love teaching until I see how she can absorb everything I thought her - the good thing I meant. So far, the last 2 years, I think Ive been doing a good job. She can read, counts, sings, talks and talks, socializes well with others. What else do you expect from a 4 year old kid right?

Nasya with a new dress inspired from Melmaureen's.

So today, after a neighbour open house, we went to look for her school. I have 3 in mind. So we go to the one out of circuit a bit. To our surprised, she was excited and cried when I asked her to go back inside the car. The school of course is locked because its Sunday!

I love that school coz it reminds me of my kindy. I went to Chinese kindy when I was small. Then the second school is a Islamic Montessori but I dont really like it, coz it looks like not well maintained from the outside. And the 3rd one is another Montessori at the same road, happen to be, next few doors from my sister's boyfy's house. What a coincidence.

BUT, if these 2 schools didnt meet our expectations, I might be homeschooling her until she goes to Std 1, but also have to enroll her to few classes to let her socialize.

Anyhoo, tomorrow we are going to these 2 schools and see the pro-cons of both schools. So, expect a delay reply on the emails, but will attend to it the soonest I get home.

I am not agree when people said, a home schooled kid doesnt mix with others well. It depends how the parents let/teach/allow her to socialize, I think.

Nasya first time meeting my sister's soon-to-be-niece & nephew. The bottom pix with grape inside her mouth LOL

Nasya first time meeting Atika's daughter, Chempaka.

Really hope she knows that schooling starts next year, not tomorrow!

p/s - oh yes, I cut her hair short finally! phewww

Polka Dots Exhibition by Pipit

Last Saturday, I asked my husband if he wanted to go to Pipit Store. Usually he will asked, what is that, why do we have to go bla bla bla, but this time around, he said ok.

Pipit Store located along a terrace house at SS2, PJ. It was actually a terrace house, converted to a creative store. The downstairs is the famous lomo camera shop, The Click Shop and Pipit store is upstairs. It is a small room, with lots of beautifully crafted items. There are purses, pillows, tshirts, paintings and many more there. You just have to go to see it yourself.

Outside the room is the Polka Dots Exhibition. They showcase the products that have a polka dots in it..I captured my favourites as below.

Nasya enjoying the musical box there. Nasya wearing a merry go round skirt in Hot Air Balloon Prints.

And after we came out from the store, she said, she was happy because it was fun.I love what they have in there and planning to get the purse I saw.

Best thing about handmade/craft items is, you hardly see one person wearing/having the same item as yours coz usually, they are created uniquely just for you.

Happy Monday!

Color blocking anyone?

This entry should be published after a Handmade KL Craft Party but that photos in the other laptop, so just proceed with this first :)

That Craft Party was the 3rd one organized by none other than Murni of MimpiMurni at Wondermilk. This time around the theme was T-shirt Refashioned. It was fun to see what other people was making. So as mother, I refashioned Nasya's Tshirt. The one she wore below..

This is the only close up I can take. I used a pink tshirt from Mothercare. Sew a bow from a beautiful cotton fabric from the buffet table at the party, a bit of fabric lace, and painted a golden tree using my Fabric paint and sew some buttons and pretty butterflies on the tree.

Wallah!

The pants I made using cheap cotton in my stash for her daily use. One of her favorite pants actually.

Oh please!

Pants : Handmade
Accessories : Umbrella from Barbie, Slippers from nearby sundry shop

Ruffles Capri by Sandi Henderson

Nasya loves the new house environment coz she got plenty of space to run and go wild :p. EVERY day, we go out to the playground. Its either me or my husband will take turns, or sometimes both of us just bring her out. And I will try my best to run. :p

Compared to last year, I made lots of skirts and dresses for her, but this time around, I tried to make a capri, based on Sandi Henderson's pattern. She was the one who choose the fabric. I used Kamdar stripes fabric in plum and an imported ruler prints fabric for the ruffles. That fabric was planned to make her sleeping pants actually :D .

The cutting was airy and quite big, and gave her plenty of space to move.

One of the must play, and must ride - SWING!

Yeah, she cycled and we walked to the playground, which is so not far from our house.

Can you see the ruffles?

Full view!

The capri and ruffle pants will be one of the clothing during the Markets, Jaya One.

Have you block your calendar? :)

Outing with Yumyumx

Haha I dont know what is the suitable title shud I put here....Anyways, I went to see Yam today. For the first time...all this while, I just went to her house, send my fabric and she will help me sew. But today, after putting aside some commitments, we went out for talk, lunch and ice cream!

Nasya wore LBB dress and Ayra wore a long sleeve made by her mommy! Nasya and Ayra shared ice cream but at last Nasya didnt want it hehe. Cute huh?

Mine, Cookie dough & Caramel with Tim tam topping and...mars I think...Cant remember.

Later, Yam & Ayra went to our messy unorganized house to pick up some fabric and patterns..

Then, I rushed to pick my husband and we went to do some touch up at our apartment. We rented the apartment to an Iraqis family. And this is Nasya with her white necklace, Zam... :p

Thats how she wears it.

Tiered Skirt in Action

This skirt is now open for order. :)

Jumper in action

Lola was the one asked me whether I do jumpers or not. I dont know earlier that this is easy. I was looking at the instruction in a book and I found it so difficult with so many pieces or maybe that particular design has lot of embellishment on it. And many more pattern I found in the internet are using a halter back design which I am not so fond of.

So, right after the Handmade Market, I sit down and draft the design.

I used a cheap fabric to make a sample and she did complain that, its hard for her to squat and I found out the bodice is quite big... Ok, so early Monday morning, I made another one. So that's it.

She wore this during her drawing class and later she went to play at the kids area and I saw that she was ok with all the jumping, running and all. So pattern passed (for me)! Only the problem when she was wearing this kind of clothing is, when she is going to the toilet, I have to take everything off and she was curious as well, why I do need to take off her clothes :D

Please comment.

Inspiring Saturday

I woke up on Saturday morning and decided to make something for my lil one. This has been postponed for so many times so I think I should not delay it anymore. Since her birthday is getting closer, I want to shower her with my handmade stuffs.

First in my list is the Tshirt dress. I did this once. She has this one pink tshirt which I think she wore it once only because I keep forgotten she has that. A day earlier, she was asking if she could have a same pink whale dress as the one I made for a customer. I said yes, so, there was it, tshirt dress!

In half and hour, it was done. Supposed I can finish it earlier, but I calculate the width wrongly so I had to cut another piece :p *talking about over confidence* This is the tutorial.

She wore it on the same day!

And then after finishing the tshirt dress, I thought of making a baby pouch for her. She loves pretend play. And every single day, I need to tie her napkin around her to make the pouch. Then I was browsing the net and found this tutorial and decided, ok, lets make it!

She loves it! And another on still in progress is her picnic blanket. Arghh that one is super tiring. I dont understand how some quilters can do that. I salute their patience. Really.

Then late Saturday nite, I was cleaning up my fabric stash, I have this idea to make her this skirt! It was verrrrry late. I finished it at 3am I think. And I named it Little Helper Skirt. I like it so much because of the colors. I love contrast colors nowadays so as usual, she will be the guinea pig! Simple and easy to move around skirt, and yet really fun. This skirt will be in the Etsy Crafty Market this 19th Feb!

That is how we celebrated CNY here.. Sit at home, sewing and cleaning up and end of the day, we treat ourselves some sugar :D *Nasya was wearing her past 2 yo cheongsam*

Happy Monday!
