Okinokiyo on Wanita Hari Ini TV3

Jezmine tweeted me one day asking for my phone number. I asked her back for what, and she said for WHI. She is so kind for recommended me to someone she knows in TV3. But I got no calls that day. Further more, I hope for no calls that day due to banging and drilling done by the contractor next door. My neighbour was renovating the house. So, the noise is somehow killing you.

On Friday, I got a call. I thought a customer from mybirthday, but its from Lina. She introduced herself as Lina, from Wanita Hari Ini, TV3. She was kind, it can easily be heard from her lively voice over the phone, asking if I want to be featured the following Tuesday, I said yes after thinking that I still havent got any appointment next week. And then told my husband to take leave. Hahaha. Because somebody needed to babysit the hyper Nasya.

Came Tuesday, we arrived quite early, parking was easy, everything was easy but my tummy was not. I was panic actually. Lucky that Kak Milie called me days earlier giving me tips on how to control yourself, and look good on TV, such as - smile a lot, dont talk too fast, dont talk too slow, and because we do handmade things, we have to tell & show people what is our products within that 8 minutes time. So, how to tell them short & simple & in that 8 minutes time? Give a call to Kak Milie. She's my sifoo. :D

I got touched up, and still thinking that time whether Nasya should be in. Then my husband said no need coz she's not staying still. So ok, she will stay in the waiting room haha.

The twitter friends made me nervous, they tweet and spread about it and some of them asking what time, etc etc then I decided to switch off my phone :p

It was fun and interesting to see the hosts practicing their lines before show started. Showing how committed they are even though they are pro already. Meaning that, how pro you are in your field, practise is still needed yeah?

We (my husband & I) set the stuff early and I brought all the hats & crowns that day. I was demo-ing the crowns because I might need a sewing machine if I do hats.

This was how Nasya killing her time. :)

I looked fat on TV :S but in real life, Im fat too, so hmmm...

Nora Danish was there talking about her Ana Lulu' tv series which I like, and she was so soft spoken, and tall, and fair, and slim and....

Thanks Lina & TV3 for inviting me! Business was good after that and hoping the momentum stays still..

Ameen.

Markets June 2011 @JayaOne,PJ

Markets JayaOne went well. Despite of tired keep on standing for few hours, it was fun. I met lots of return customers, new customers and big customers (read : not mothers but adult!), celebrities and top bloggers!

Crowd was so BIG around 2pm onwards and I started sweating like hell. Nasya and her dad left around 11 and left me alone tending the booth.

As usual, I brought HATS (the main item) and lots of crowns this time around. Few baju kurung that I want to clear off, skirts and ruffles pants. Ira as usual contribute her chalk mats, and this time around, Yam put her booties at my booth. Syap, my Uni mate made cupcakes and brownies and sample macarons but she came around noon like that. So to those coming in the morning, you might missed that yummy food! Sorry...

Tweeting live to give some updates to the rest of the world who missed the event. Follow me at :twitter.com/OkinokiyoShop

Super early, after setting up.

A returned customer showing their hats - bought from me before in the previous market. I remember them! And they bought the new one, a newsboy hat with Matroshykan print. That print somehow is hard to find and lucky them to have it.

Then, there were 2 ladies came, asking if they can take Nasya's photo for a newspaper, which I forgot to ask which paper. And that little girl suddenly didnt know how to smile. She almost cried! LOL

When I was busy entertaining customers, somebody felt neglected and sat across the booth. Sad :p

A princess came over too! Pretty dress she wore right?

And her sister! Behind is Cyres and her dad!

Overall it was a fun event. What I love most is I got to meet my customers on that day. Even tho I have hard time to remember names, but I do remember who buy what. Thanks to those who came, talked, chatted and bought things from me. Really appreciate it! Dont forget to claim 10% disc from your next purchase yeah?

And there will be next Markets on 20th August. Guess what Im bringing? Limited edition baju kurung - one piece, one design.

So, do come (even tho its fasting month!)

Handmade Market - Empire SG, Subang

Hi all,
I am now recovering all my energy back from the market and the previous hectic week but looking forward to another more crazy weeks! :D

As some of you know, I joined another market last weekend. It was good but not as crazy as the JayaOne one (crazy in a good way :p) I didnt bring lots of new clothings as my sewing machine broke down a day before. And I didnt know how to fix it. Its a high speed machine and I wasted one day without sewing. So some of the skirts were left incompleted...

Anyway...here are some pictures...The tables & chairs are nice but a bit small, but still I managed to put everything on the tables. This time around I put some pictures of the hats in the Ikea frames and next time , I should bring a mirror! Some of them asking for mirror..will go find one tomorrow :)

Chalkmat still there, those who is interested to buy, better buy now, dont ask me later on since those are the last pieces okay?

Thanks to those coming. I thought they will no one coming since the place quite confusing and many are not aware of that event, but some of them, managed to find it. Thanks and many thanks..The twitter friends who came and make me laugh and the loyal customers, thanks and thanks..

I sat beside Tini, who was so nice booking me the table..and we chatted alot, about biz, personal and seems like I can get along with Paul too! :)

After setting up the place. Behind me is a game room, where they can play PS there. So, some of the guys stand up in front of my booth and watch the screen inside the room :p

Try me!
Its a travel chalkmat. Made by a blogger friend- Ira, and you can let your kids occupied during outings. I know many people nowadays own a Ipod, Iphone, Ipad. So do I, but Im still an old-school type who loves to draw and doodle on real medium compared to the electronic gadget. Chalk is provided.

Sofia's mama is one of my loyal customer. She bought a lots since I first start selling. So this time around, she came, which I dont know she wanted to come and here Sofia showing off her doggie toy and a felt crown. A pretty little princess yeah? Thanks for the purchase Siti!

Omg, Yaya came with the family and bought these two hats. Both of them are adorable! Thats the beret I made. A cotton one and not the knitted cotton..A little artiste in the making... :) Thanks for the purchase Yaya!

Meal of the day.

Catch of the day :D Super happy..

Again, thanks to those coming and now Im gonna make lots of new clothes for the coming market (which I still dont know when..) Thanks and nice to meet all of you.

P/S - Im gonna do a giveaway sometimes this week, watch this space yeah?

Fashion show lalala~

OMG I dont know how come I am so busy..But I am..Hopefully after this, I can be myself back. The house is so mess with everything!

I havent mentioned what is my role in the fashion show right?? I tweeted the pic few hours ago, so do follow me on twitter (okinokiyoShop) and I just finished making the ....

MAD HATTER'S HAT.

Yeah, the theme is Alice In Wonderland! They are having this fashion show, hi tea for charity and those students - the models I mean will be wearing my version of mad hats! Isnt it wonderful? Yeah yeah! but thing is, the process is soooo not easy hahaha. I will elaborate more after this..Because I snap pics step by step process to share with you guys here...

The moment I write this entry, I just finished pasting tulle flowerS on one of the hats...So, the table is full of glue, my hand, every single thing.. The process so not easy. But I enjoy the process, even though at some point I just so give up because the outcome didnt come out as expected.

I want to sleep now, *while waiting the glue to dry*.. <-- that is my favorite phrase this week...so some sneak peak...lalalala

Thanks to husband who is willing to wear the mad hat, when the glue still not dry and right after he took off the hat, his hair is full of glue.. :p

The rehearsal is on Sunday, so, I will be MIA until Wednesday (the DAY), because I plan to sleep and enjoy myself on that Wednesday, and orders is open officially on THURSDAY! But strictly on sunhats only!

And good thing is, I engaged one photographer, to snap snap pics on the day, and that day also, I will launch few new designs of my sunhats! Another yeayy....

I better sleep now..Buh bye!

Purrrfect

Last week was so tiring. And Im breathing as a normal person now :p...Thank GOD for the non-stop rezeki. Im so blessed.

Anyway, Im not sure if I have mentioned that I went for a photoshoot with a talented photographer of LittleStori, Milin. I dont know how to express my happiness and satisfaction here, but by looking at the picture below, you should know how I feel now. Happy because the picture turned out so great and it really enhanced the beauty of what Nasya's wearing. You can compared it with the picture I took from the Eclipse Inspired entry ha ha..

And guess what, Nasya is not the star of the day eventho she was so talkative and so busy body as if she was the star. The star of the day was Alyn, KC's daughter! What? You dont know KC? Then you should check out LittleBIGShots website...

Both A&A were there and Nasya was so excited and couldnt stop talking, running, playing, dancing, eating non stop..What a fun picnic we had!

"I love bazaar" bazaar - OkinokiyoShop @ Subang Parade 3 April 2010

Hello Crafters!

Last Saturday was ok.The crowd was not that many as the previous week's crowd but I managed to cover the booth rental and made few hundereds of profits as well. And best of all, I made new friends!

This time around I was the only one at the bazaar. My sister was not around, and I asked my husband to take care of our lil girl, worrying if she tired like the previous week.

But she came in the morning, helping me organizing the booth before off to feed the fish at the fish pond with the daddy.

My booth this time at 10am. Bazaar started at 11am. I was the 2nd early vendor.

I sold the sunhats, aprons, dresses and skirts. Surprisngly, ,my first and second customers were foreigners who appreciate this handmade stuff.

See the little towkay? busy arranging the skirts..

I also managed to get few pre-orders for the sunhats & aprons & few dresses, so please expect some hiatus in this blog :) Anything you can just email me yeah?

Ok, gtg..thanks for those who came and showed some support. I love you all!

What I did last weekend :D

I have a very good entry today :D

I did so many things during the long holiday I must say...

First I made this dress for Nasya. Using the red peacock fabric. Its Jennifer Paganelli's Mod Girls Peacock fabric. The one I made for Itty Bitti dress, remember? So I use the same fabric to make this dress.

Guess what? Its the same design as Nasya's birthday dress..Since the fabric has vertical designs, so I cut the pattern nicely so that the peacock will stands in the middle. She's going to wear this tomorrow at school.

Last time when she wore the green birthday dress, I think the teachers asked her, who bought it?Because after school she asked me, "Who bought this dress? You or daddy?" So I said, I didn't buy, I sew it. This time around I told her, if the teachers asked, tell them, I sew it! :D

Second, I made another dress is basically A line dress. This was suppose to be the birthday dress, but I messed it. Badly.

Why? Because first I cut didn't cut the the fabric nicely. And the peacock lost its head at the bottom right of the dress. Grrr...

Then, the neckline. Its not supposed to be like that. But because I did it badly, which I didnt even dare to take picture, so I end up using the bias tape. The normal boring bias tape..See, how lazy I am? Haha

This is suppose to be the neckline. Nice eh?But mine is not that neat. And I hate that.

The last thing is ...the best thing. The icing of the cake :D

Remember I'm in the process of doing my daughter's quilt? And I did ask in the previous entry whether I can pre-wash the batting or not?

So I WASHED it. And machine washed some more. And tadaaa....It turned out to be like hancur. Totally need to be throwed out and my husband cant stop laughing. He said how come I cannot think? I said I think and I cannot imagine it can turn out to be like that. Double grrrrrrrr...

So that was the news of the long holiday. And actually I got some more, but I will save it for another entry.

xoxo :D

Another ballerina fabric

So I passed that previous ballerina fabric because I'm scared the fabric - linen blended is not suitable for Nasya. I forgot that she is a sensitive skin girl and last time she got rashes when I put her a shantung silk dress..

So I find in Etsy another ballerina fabric. And this time around is a 100% cotton! It has Eiffel Tower prints, the merry go round, and the shoe - why you call it? And the seller has in 2 shades, pink and grey. So guess which one I buy? :D

On the other note, today is Nasya's 3rd birthday. I didnt managed to finish the dress I made for her. Bad mommy because of some other commitment comes in between. But I will try by today. She wears the same green Heather Bailey's print today in the school with her Mickey Mouse cake.

Hope she is happy. I think she is, because she was smiling ears to ears when I saw her this morning.

Its pretty rite?

To buy or not to buy

I was browsing fabric in the Etsy shop and I found this one yummy fabric. I wanted to buy it so badly but its a Japanese import fabric and its linen blended. And that pause me. I never buy a Japanese-linen blended fabric. So I dont know whether is it ok to make a dress using linen blended fabric? Is it hot?Is it thick? I cant imagine..

The print is so irresistable because my little one is so into dancing nowadays. She must be so excited if she knows Im making a dress for her using this print. But that comes back to my question, is it ok to make a dress using linen blended fabric?

Help. :)

Happy Sunday!

* Some updates *

I dont know what happen to me but then I find it hard to share so much here since so many people taking advantage on me. It so frustrated. I know that life is not fair but then, having a bit of humane feeling- is not that hard.

So, Ive been working on our new products. Hope to upload it by tonite if the internet connection is good. My husband has been helping me doing some photo editing and I need to line up few more items so that he can take picture of those.

Not that I dont want to take the photos but then he is my QC checker and keep rejecting my photos and asking me to use the semi DSLR camera which I dont know how to use. And even using the auto function, the photos still come out blur. :p

On the other note, valen-tine day and CNY is around the corner.I dont know whether I should make something which is love-related or red-color-related but then some people already come out with their products weeks before. Please check out www.azgiftbaskets.com.my because her CNY baskets are TDF. Or maybe I shuld say all her baskets. Seriously. I saw it with my two eyes people!!

Ok..so tomorrow will be my last day in KL. I will be away to my parents hometown until next Sunday. I will be posting Nasya's birthday dress..Its done but still thinking to make another one..ha ha ha

Weekends talk

I made my daughter few dresses for our vacation next week. First I thought to let her wear it afterwards. We are going out somewhere but then decided to let her parade her new dresses at the beach. Yeah we are going to a beach!!

So plan to sew more more dresses for her. At the mean time, skirts line still in progress..

Another dress for Nasya

Apart from the (incomplete) Itti Bitti Dress, I made this also. It looks easy but its not for me since I'm a totally fail in attaching the bias tape haha..It took me two days to complete this look-like-so- easy-dress.

And this dress suppose to be wore with an inner inside but she's a toddler and this is Malaysia so who/which toddler will wear an inner in this hot humid country? So since I forgot to make the neckline smaller, think I will just put a lace fabric at the neckline :p

I tried this on her yesterday and yeah look nice on her..but still need to put the lace fabric at the neckline..and yeah, I like A line dress because kids dont have any figure so A line dress is perfect for them and they can run wild with it.

Kimono-printed-dress

See how lazy I am to change to coordinate thread color at the bottom of the dress? :p

Kimono-printed-dress---neck

I love this fabric..So am thinking to made some of the Little Chef apron with this fabric and maybe one bag or sun hat or......anything that cross my mind hehehe..

My (incomplete) version of Itti Bitti dress

Since everybody doing the Itti Bitti Dress, I want it too :p after downloading the pattern, this is my version..but an incomplete version sebab I dont know what fabric shud I put at the bottom..

DSCN7093

I think I want to put a plain white or beige fabric with the red printed as trim..Do you think it will turn out nice?

Or you can tell me?

New product : Little Chef

Munirah of TripletsPlusOne organized a baking session for kids. So she asked me if Im interested. Yes I am and I contribute kids apron in the session. When the day came, my daughter couldnt make it because she was sleeping due to lack of sleep the day before. So, I went there to pass her the aprons I made.

This was Nasya day before the baking session and she was quite tired keep on trying the apron :p And this was the incomplete version. See the needle at her chest?

In-the-making_LittleChef

Nasya-the-chef

I named this product "Little chef". When I put on her, she quickly said "Want to cook cake and porridge" She has this Ikea baking set and she loves to imitate myself cooking and baking in the kitchen. There also one time when I gave her a chance to make coffee for her dad and she was so proud of herself and running here and there happily telling everybody that she was smart and clever enough making coffee for her dad :D

The almost one week silence and sorry...

I think Im neglecting this blog for quite some time. Not that I dont have any updates, I do have but then I dont have the time to snap any pictures now.

Im quite tight with the babies stuff. And in the middle of sewing those skirts, I noticed that I ran out the elastic band - the one in smaller size. So, it was around 2-3 am in the morning and the skirts now without the elastic band and they didnt look like skirts, just like piece of 'kain yg biasa' and not attractive. So Im praying tomorrow comes faster as I need to stocked up my stuff and to finished all the incomplete skirts.

And I was this close to cut one of the leopard printed fabric when I had a doubt. Doubt like will this look nice? Or should this fabric goes with that design? I dont like that kind of doubt because end up I will do nothing. So I was right I did nothing today except ironing some of the crumpled fabrics.

And I have 3 other sets of fabrics that still do not have matching fabrics. Understand what I mean here? As you can see most of the skirts I have in the shop are mix and match between 2 or 3 designs or colors.Whether the colors blends together or not, that comes to #2 in the list. I prefer that the colors didnt blend at all because I love contrast colors hehehe. But now I have these 3 sets of fabrics which I still do not have the matching fabrics. So Im stucked.

Im stucked to decide the colors and fabrics combination and Im tight up with the current project. So, that is the reason this blog being abandoned for quite sometime. Sorry. Really sorry.

I promise at least after the Eid, I got something to show. As I need my niece to try the ruffle bloomers I made for her. Yeah, that one, I got plenty..and baby skirts yummmy..

Its polka dots, sweet, and nice to have one(or two)...

Nite nite crafters!

Petite and toddler sets in the making

I was fully occupied. With what Ive been doing and will be busy in the next few weeks.

The problem when you are in the creative line is when the ideas came at a wrong time :p. Example like when you are talking with your other half and suddenly you got this idea and you need to jot it down before you forget and totally could not listen on what he was talking...

Or when you want to sleep but your brain cannot stop to elaborate the ideas that has been stuck-ing in your mind for the past few months. So, that is basically pro and cons of working in this creative lines :)

Anyway, what made me busy was - the petite and baby sets. I have a petite kind of small niece. So cute that you feel like to hug her hard at the same time you dont want to hurt her *hehehehe* and her birthday was on 17 Nov. Last Eid, I made her an owl dress which turns out that 1yo dress was too big for her.

So I was a bit frustrated. So came her birthday, I planned to make her a skirt. I made one anyway. And then I was browsing the whimsycouture blog and I saw one bloomers pattern I have in my library. So that night of 16 Nov, I worked on it and I managed to finished it in few hours :) HAPPY.

Then I think I need to add that design in the store so that other babies or toddlers can also have the same design. Only it comes in free size (can fit 6-12 months or any petite size toddler between 12-16 months I guess) and those are limited edition series where, only one kid will have that bloomers. Sounds unique?

Yes - No. Yes because OkinokiyoShop will only sell that bloomers, one piece per design/fabric combination. And if you want to do it, you can do it yourself. You can buy the pattern from whimsycouture shop but if you are not a sewing person, you can buy it from OkinokiyoShop.

Ok, I think I talk too much :p

Have a nice day crafters..Weekends is approaching people so horray!

Week 5 - What nasya wears

We went to buy some sewing stuff this weekend like bias tape maker and some fabrics...And the next day planning to go to zoo with my parents in law. So I was contemplating whether to let her wear skirts or pants today so I opt for skirts for today and pants for the next day.

She only got 2 white t-shirts which one of it is long sleeve and 2 black t-shirts. I have no choice to put her this beige sleeveless t-shirt since the white t-shirt is in laundry :p

Its a duo skirt with Micheal Miller black and white fabric with matching black and white stripey fabric.. I just love the combination :p and might put this design in the limited edition for baby section soooonn...

Yeah, I will come out with baby line as well..Baby 6 months and above - but skirts only.

Happy Monday!
